Tampa Bay Dragon Boat Club

The Tampa Bay Dragon Boat Club was formed in 2005 and was the first established Dragon Boat club in the Tampa Bay area. The Tampa Bay Dragon Boat Club was established to foster amateur competition in the sport of dragon boating. Paddlers from corporate racing teams began practicing together and formed the Club as a way to have year round dragon boating.

The TBDBC or as we are more commonly known, the “Tampa Blade Runners" quickly rose

through the Dragon Boating ranks to become one of the more competitive teams in the Southeast US. In 2009, Great White North ranked the Blade Runners 63rd out of 779 teams in North America.

In 2011, six members from the Tampa Bay Dragon Boat Club were selected to be on the US and Puerto Rico National teams that competed at the 2011 IDBF World Championships which were held in Tampa.

The Tampa Bay Dragon Boat Club is organized exclusively to foster amateur competition in the sport of dragon boating. Membership in the Club is open to all persons fourteen years of age or older who exhibit a passion for the sport of dragon boating, and are in proper physical condition, medically able, physically fit, and capable of participating in the sport of dragon boat racing. TBDBC is now an IRS 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
